As someone new to the whole process behind valuing a business I had no idea where to start. All I knew was that after 18 years in business and all the sweat and effort that went into it, it had to be worth something.
When speaking to friends and business owners we all seemed to come up with a simple formula of ‘it is worth what someone will pay for it’ and to be honest, that didn’t help much.
After working with Stephen and the team at Pavilion over a series of sessions, I got a much better understanding of what makes a business attractive to a potential investor and more importantly it helped me craft a series of goals and targets to address my shortcomings and make my business into something that someone would find attractive.
I now know how to better look at an operation and see if they have been building and growing or standing still and shrinking based on their investments into their structure.
I feel as though a fog has been lifted from looking ahead to my future and while I am not ready to sell by business, I know what it will take to ensure my goals are met when that time comes.
